before you go crazy you must do the following. you need spark, compression, and fuel to make an engine run. first check for spark at the plug. confirm compression, then confirm fuel. if all three are there it will run, just a matter of timing. if there is no spark, make sure coil is good, and distributor is working ok. i believe that one uses a hall effect. check wiring order. should run.

i was just wondering if anyone could help me with this problem of mine. my motor in my jeep was getting wore out and tired, it had massive blow-by and i had to constantly dump oil into it almost daily. It started when i removed my motor and installed a friends motor with 135,000 miles on it but ran extremely well in his jeep which had 30's on it and he could do a power brake with no problem, we took his motor out and installed a used one he had bought, his ran fine, when we pulled mine and put his into it, it would not start, even with starting fluid, it is on top dead center, ive done it repeatedly at several different friends places, i have been through 5 starters on this thing and all it will ever do is sputter for a second or two at best, i kept my flywheel and put it on the new motor which a napa buddy told me to do, the only difference in the two motors is that mine is a 1988 straight six and his was a 1990 high output straight six, but i have been told by numerous people that it should not matter, im almost to the point of selling it but i love this jeep and have hundreds of hours of fabs and mods to the interior and exterior which make it hard, thousands of dollars which i will never get out of it. im tired of trying stuff only to be disssappointed and frustrated can anyone help?
