Looking for info on what axles will swap into my 1969 K10 4x4 Suburban. I have the old school type and want to switch to a new style (disc brake front) with highway gears(factory). This is a daily driver so I should be able to find a stock set someone pulled out to up grade theirs to lower gear or heavy duty in their later model that will fit in place of mine. I would love to talk with some one who has done this swap or knows a website with tech help on this swap. Thanks

alright so if you want to help me great, if not then whatever but anyways. . .i just bought a 1984 Chevy Silverado for $200, it was a steal let me tell ya. . .it had a 700 r4 trans. but i switched it out to a 350 trans. but what im blogging about is because i want to make this a big mean truck. . .im not talking like 50-60 grand either im trying to stay low budget but still make it big so what im asking your help for is to give me some ideas on what kind of lifts, tires, etc. to put on it to make this thing basically unstoppable in the mud but obviously i know that it will get stuck once in awhile but what doesnt. . .so if you have any input on what and where i can get things then let me know. . .i will eventually be putting pics up just give me time. . .thanks. . .andy

Hi,

I'd like to share here a bad experience, because this is something that should not happen in the third millennium...

I know, Porsche Cayenne is not really the kind of car you use to crawl rocks or go in the mud, but still, hey, it's a 4x4 and a great one on many aspects.

The problem comes from all the electronic parts and computers it has on board. To make it simple, this car drains so much power from its battery, that if I don't drive it for at least 50 miles in a row every week, then I can't start it anymore.
Not a big issue you will say, 50 miles is not much, but I happen to live 2 miles away from my office (lucky me ;-) and driving it for 2 miles just does not compensate the energy it takes to start.

So here I am with a really nice car, that will stop working every 10 days if I don't keep it plugged to a wall socket at night...

Last time I had to call to get the battery recharged ( I was once more stuck in a parking lot), the guy told me he had 2 calls per day for the same problem.

I just think that given the pricetag of the beast, I'd let everyone know. It is a great car, only if you live 50 miles or more away from your job...

I think I am selling it... :-(

hi there,

I own a 2000 checy s10 and decided I want to do a little customizing to it. With the combination of my complete lack of experience and not seeing too many hardcore off road s10's, I have no idea where to start. Does anyone have any suggestions? I realize that it isn't much to work with (2.2 L and 4x2) but I gotta start somewhere right? Any and all comments are welcome, from lifts to engine swaps to tires etc. I just thought it would be a good idea to hear what someone with a little more experience had to say. Keep in mind I am a college student so funds are slightly limited.

check tie rod ends coming off of steering box. they may be worn. also there is a hydraulic shock which displaces shimming, you may need 2 stronger ones. have you checked your wheel alignment lately with those big tires. hope this helps.

before you go crazy you must do the following. you need spark, compression, and fuel to make an engine run. first check for spark at the plug. confirm compression, then confirm fuel. if all three are there it will run, just a matter of timing. if there is no spark, make sure coil is good, and distributor is working ok. i believe that one uses a hall effect. check wiring order. should run.
